Local 1613 will no longer be meeting at the Holiday Inn in National City for monthly Union meetings. Starting October 14, 2008, Local 1613 monthly general membership meetings will be held at The Handlery Hotel and Resort (click for The Handlery’s website). The Handlery is located at 950 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, CA 92108 (click address for map).
At the general membership meeting on September 9, 2008, the members voted unanimously in favor of temporarily holding general membership meetings at The Handlery Hotel and Resort. The Executive Board explained the reason for the relocation and discussed how the Executive Board believed the new location may attract more members due to the central location on I-8. While some members expressed concerns about the new location, the Executive Board explained the move is temporary, until the membership agrees to a permanent location. Members will have an opportunity during the next couple of meetings to express support for or opposition to the new location.
